Does anything change when you beg?

When the crooks in government and their insatiable bosses in the boardrooms and ivory towers are confronted with one man who speaks the truth they can ignore it.

Hell, they can even ignore a million on the march, as they did when the British people instructed their “public servants” not to invade Iraq.

It’s only when all of us start reacting to the abuses of power with unflinching and uncompromising strength that the tiny minority who dictate to us (as in fascism) will be forced to pay attention.

You don’t ask a mugger nicely not to rob you, you punch him in the face and defend yourself, for crying out loud!

Yes, the swearing is optional. If bad language is going to get in the way of you defending yourself and the rights of billions of others who suffer at the hands of corporate and bankster criminals, then stand up nicely. Jeez…

But say it firmly. And mean it. Whether you like it or not you are in a war for your future. Are you going to fight?

If you were instructed to fight in one of their poxy wars you’d be fed all that crap about your duty and honour to die for the bastards. Millions have heard it, millions have died.

Well you have a duty to yourself too, and the people around you. And your kids.

Time and time again you’ve trotted along like a dutiful sheep to make your hoof print on a ballot paper and on every occasion you’ve been betrayed.

Are you one of those people who agree it’s necessary to have a corporate dick rammed hard up your arse whilst your wrists are slashed and the last drop of blood is pumped, pumped, pumped from your body?

Tough times, eh? We’re all in together! Yeah, you at the front, him behind, pump, pump, pump!

How about you wake the fuck up already? Instead of agreeing with Nick, why don’t you connect your brain to your eyes and ears and take a smell of what’s been right under your nose all along?

How hard would that be? Seriously?

And when you’ve inhaled enough to make you sick (sick of your complacency as much as the filth that rules you) how about you stop endorsing thieving, lying scum every five years? Or is the very thought of it foreign?

You don’t need to have a detailed alternative to avoiding rats with the plague, do you? Just stay the fuck away from them! Everyone can figure that out!

So why is the very obvious suggestion of not voting for diseased vermin at election time always met with blank stares, derision or that outstandingly fucking stupid question, “So who do we vote for then?”

Anyway, ignore me, ignore everything, just tell me who you’re going to vote for next time. Will you be voting blue or red or just plain yellow?

Of course let’s just skip over the admitted fact all the parties have been feeding off dodgy dough up to this point. Provided lessons are learned, what’s a little dirty money between ravenous, cash guzzling pigs?

To underline their intent, the Lib Dems won’t be handing back the reeking pile of dosh shovelled in their direction by their since vanished criminal friend Michael Brown.

Brown stole millions from honest investors, £2.4million of which found its way into Liberal Democrat coffers. In a recent interview, asked if the party should hand the money back to the investors who had lost out, Vince Cable assured the panel everything was above board before stating, “Fuck no! We’re keeping the money, fuck the investors!”

Okay, he might have phrased it slightly differently as he twisted and slithered under sustained questioning, but the sentiment was the same.

Good to see the Lib Dem’s principles are firmly in tune with Westminster. Maybe they are a viable option after all, or at least they are fast learners.

Alan Duncan, treated like a "shit"

Alan Duncan, shadow leader of the Commons, has been forced to apologise following his recent indiscreet remarks about the expenses scandal.

Apparently he feels he’s been “treated like shit” by the public, been “forced to live on rations” since the trough has temporarily been hidden and concludes the “world has gone mad” in response to his gardening claims. The job of the politician has been “nationalised”, he suggests.

The political process owned by the people? It’s an outrage!

Now his remarks have been made public he’s quick to assure us he was only joking.

Oh go on then, I’ll believe him. He has enough problems by the sound of it and I don’t want to pile any more on top by treating him like a “shit”.

In fact I’m not really surprised or even interested by Duncan’s remarks. That most politicians have a general contempt for the public and are averse to accepting responsibility for their actions is the world’s worst kept secret.

I’m a lot more interested in David Cameron’s response after he supposedly gave his deputy a dressing down.

“I spoke to Alan Duncan yesterday and made it clear in no uncertain terms that when it comes to the mess of expenses, the words we use, just as the actions we take, have got to demonstrate completely that we share the public’s real fury at what went on in parliament. Alan made a bad mistake and he has acknowledged that, he has apologised and withdrawn the remarks.”

The expenses scandal is more than a mess. It’s establishment greed and fraud and the perpetrators have been caught red-handed.

What’s happening with the limited number of police investigations into the more excessive individual cases? I haven’t heard anything in the headlines recently.

And if politicians’ words and actions had genuinely reflected the public’s fury at the time they’d have be forced to proclaim themselves a bunch of “shits” and string themselves up from the rather tasteful lampposts along Abingdon Street. We aren’t in this together Dave, dream on.

This scandal has subsided under the tides of more recent news – the death of Michael Jackson, the Iraq Inquiry, escalation of the war in Afghanistan. Are we still okay to assume all the penitence and promises of probing inquiries are holding firm? The bankers were sorry too, if you recall. Who’s sorry now as the bonuses are breaking records again?

Is the expenses scandal dead too and was Dave only miffed because Duncan brought it up at all?

Mick Martin has moved on, but what other meaningful words and actions have transpired that Alan Duncan might refer to when expressing his solidarity with the British public the next time he has a comment to make about corruption in parliament?

He doesn’t have much to go on from what I can see. He’s already done the “sorry” thing. Steal money, get caught, say sorry, maybe give some of it back, walk away. Sorry about that.

Like all the MPs who were terribly confused about what they could or couldn’t claim for as they expertly flipped their expenses from property to property, he’s made a childishly transparent excuse. When in doubt, hold your hands up, lower your head and make an excuse. He says he was only joking, so another tick there.

Obviously he’s not resigning, just like 99% of the politicians who were happy to continue as guardians of the public trust following their liberal abuse of it.

I’m not sure what else he is expected to do. Perhaps Dave could explain more clearly by demonstrating the difference between Duncan’s behaviour and the behaviour of just about every other snout in parliament?

Or maybe he could leave Alan high and dry by actually saying then doing something meaningful to address a scandal that continues to fade into the noise of an ever developing news cycle.

Politicians still don’t get it. Words backed by swift and effective actions were urgently required at the time in order to stabilise the sharp decline in public trust. Giving the appearance of sympathising with the public whilst doing nothing at all just isn’t good enough. What’s more, Cameron knows it but he also knows he’s going to be the beneficiary of a public backlash against one of the most corrupt governments in British history. He’s busy doing nothing because that’s his route to power.

So as with his cowardly dance around the Lisbon Treaty he’s making all the right sounds but remains out of step with the will of the people. And if he’ll compromise his principles to win power you can be sure he’ll do the same to hold onto power.

He’s well qualified for the job of PM then.

War is the biggest business of all

Do the invariably rich and powerful men who make the decision to go to war really spend human lives and mountains of money because they are concerned for the fate of their fellow man? It’s a nice excuse but the facts don’t support such an idea.

Considering “public servants” spend our lives and our money rather than their own, what’s the real cost to them when they decide to settle their disputes using violence? Is there any significant cost at all, considering they only have to bear political consequences in the short term and never seem to have to answer for their actions in a court of law?

After their turn in office, warmongers can take a trip through the revolving door and into lucrative private sector roles, often with corporations that have directly benefited from their time in public office. It stinks to high heaven, everyone is immersed in the stench, but it’s all viewed as business as usual.

The truth is, there are big profits to me made from war. And in a war economy or during times of actual conflict, government can draw on additional excuses to behave in a non-representative manner. It’s a win-win cycle that feeds on itself. Corruption in office that feeds the war machine and then rewards the public officials when they retire to the private sector.

War is sold as a last resort and yet the United States has been involved in a stream of overt and covert wars since the end of World War II. Is it credible that the “last resort” has presented itself with such frequency in so short a time span?

For the men of war business is booming. While the cash continues to roll in war will always be a favoured revenue generator. Many of us will continue to support these wars, or remain silent as the bombs fall of the victims. Many of us will console ourselves with the very convenient but barely credible lies presented by our politicians on behalf of their business friends as they plan the next slaughter. You have to keep your eyes squeezed shut to ignore what’s going on here. Take the time to take a peek and your eyes will open wide in horror.
